Raisina Dialogue: EAM exposes West’s Kashmir narrative and double standards on why it won’t call Pakistan an invader

On the second day of the ongoing Raisina Dialogue 2025 in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar stressed the need for fairness in the global system while questioning d the double standards of Western countries. While speaking at the ‘Thrones and Thorns: Defending the Integrity of Nations’ session, Jaishankar described sovereignty and territorial integrity as the foundation of global rules. Referring to the Kashmir issue, he termed it the longest illegal occupation since World War II.
He said, “We went to the United Nations. An invasion was made into a dispute. The attacker and the victim were put in the same category. Who were the parties responsible for this? Britain, Canada, Belgium, Australia, America? So I have some questions on this whole subject.” Apart from Jaishankar, the panel also included Liechtenstein Foreign Minister Dominik Hasler, Slovak Republic Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár, and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt.
Jaishankar also went ahead and called out the hypocrisy of the West while adding that the issue shows how Western forces distorted the reality of Kashmir. Questioning the Western countries’ view on political interference Jaishankar spoke on the need to establish an international order as he strongly attacked the double standards of Western countries.
He said that just as governments work to maintain order in their country, the same should happen at the global level. Jaishankar, while giving examples of the hypocritical policy of Western countries, especially in matters related to the Global South told the audience how the Western countries turned the attack or infiltration on Indian land by Pakistan into a regional dispute.
S Jaishnkar also criticised the UN and called for a “strong and fair”........
