Rahul Gandhi's Gujarat Model: Will Cong see serious reforms or its just another statement by RaGa?

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been of late surprising everyone including his own party leaders with his comments and so when during his meeting with Gujarat party workers he said, “If we have to connect with the people of Gujarat, we have to do two things. The first thing is to separate the groups of loyalists and rebels. Even if we have to remove 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 people, we are ready to do so to set an example,” no body was surprised.

While addressing Congress party workers in Ahmedabad, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also launched a scathing attack on the leaders of his own party and even termed many within his party as the ‘B-team’ of the BJP. Rahul said, “There are many Babbar Shers in the Congress, but all are tied with chains,” which made it clear that he was expressing dissatisfaction with the situation inside the party.

Rahul’s statement though targeting the party’s Gujarat unit raises a question in our minds, is Congress heading for a revamp finally as per Rahul Gandhi’s wishes? He has been talking about change in Congress for a long time, but is this change really going to happen or is this also just another statement? As of now, he has talked about Gujarat, but it is a well-known fact that the party is ridden with factionalism in almost every state. Right from Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan to Maharashtra the party has been witnessing a tug-of-war between two or more powerful state leaders.

Looking at the current situation of Congress, it is clear that the party is struggling with internal strife and confusion after losing several Assembly elections recently in states like Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi. The morale of........
