North Korean soldiers were deployed by their supreme leader Kim Jong Un to assist his ally Russian President Vladimir Putin in the war against Ukraine. In December last year, more than 11,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed in the Kursk region of Russia to assist the Russian army in thwarting Ukrainian counter-attacks.
