Bengaluru man to get Rs 65,000 in compensation from PVR-INOX for playing long ads
Bengaluru: In a landmark ruling, a Bengaluru resident has been awarded Rs 28,000 in compensation after successfully challenging leading multiplex chains PVR Cinemas and INOX over prolonged advertisements before a movie screening. The decision, handed down by the consumer court, deemed the practice an unfair trade tactic that wasted the consumer’s valuable time.
The case was initiated by Abhishek MR, who booked three tickets for the 4:05 PM screening of Sam Bahadur in 2023. Expecting the film to conclude by 6:30 PM so he could resume work, but he was forced to sit through nearly 25 minutes of advertisements and trailers before the movie started at around 4:30 PM, nearly 25 mins later than the scheduled time.........
