Mumbai: Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 is celebrated annually on January 9 to recognise the vital role of Indians living abroad in shaping the nation’s identity and enhancing its global presence.

With more than 32 million Indians across the world, the diaspora serves as a crucial link between India and other nations. Their contributions to remittances, investments, and promoting India’s global image are significant. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas honours these efforts and fosters collaboration for mutual growth.

The theme for this year is ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat’ (A Developed India), emphasising the invaluable role of the Indian diaspora in the nation’s journey toward becoming a developed country. It highlights their contributions in fields such as technology, education, healthcare, and trade while encouraging stronger ties between India and its global citizens.
