'Get a secured XI for next year': MS Dhoni's IPL 2026 prospects for CSK following crushing defeat against MI
New Delhi: Has Chennai Super Kings (CSK) given up already? Well, it seemed so after watching captain MS Dhoni speak at the post-match presentation following a hammering from Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. MI registered a clinical victory by nine wickets, eking out revenge of the first-leg encounter between the two arch-nemesis, where CSK won by four wickets, their first and one of the only two wins of the season.
As things stood after CSK had played six games, they were to win a minimum of seven out of the eight remaining games to get to 16 points in order to qualify for the playoffs. They did manage a win in their seventh fixture (vs LSG) but went down against MI on Sunday, which means they can’t lose even a single of their remaining six fixtures from now onward. A win is must in all the games with a positive net run rate.
