NeevCloud’s Project Orion is sovereign AI compute infrastructure in orbit

NeevCloud has partnered with Agnikul Cosmos to deploy India's first orbital AI inferencing network. The plan is to deploy 600 orbital edge data centres over the next three years.

New Delhi: Last week, NeevCloud announced an agreement with Agnikul Cosmos to deploy a space-based AI data centre. At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, we discovered more about Project Orion, to deploy a constellation of satellites equipped with GPUs that can deliver AI inferencing capabilities anywhere in the planet. 98 per cent of the Earth will be covered by the constellation, with a global latency of less than 10 ms. The network addresses the fact that 80 per cent of the world has a latency of 200 ms or more with the nearest GPU data centre, with realtime AI being impossible for critical applications such as autonomous vehicles, telemedicine and robotics.

Project Orion will also serve the global south, where entire continents are locked out of the AI economy. The satellites will be deployed in altitudes between 550 and 1,200 km, with the accelerators being fortified for operations in the extreme environment of space. A global ground station network integrated with terrestrial GPU infrastructure will manage model distribution and caching. One simple REST API will be used for inferencing, with........
