Hubble spots Blue Lurker in Open Cluster
New Delhi: Star clusters are associations of stars that are born around the same time. They may either be spherical clusters that assume a roughly spherical shape under the influence of mutual gravity, that remain stable across billions of years, or spread out over time, in open clusters. Star clusters tend to contain old and red stars, but there are a few stars that are younger and bluer than the other stars in a cluster, known as Blue Stragglers. The Hubble Space Telescope has now captured an unusual type of star related to Blue Stragglers, known as a Blue Lurker, that has had a tumultuous history.
