Noida: Two men on dialysis get new kidneys from each other's wives
New Delhi: Two men suffering from end-stage kidney disease got a new lease of life through a rare organ swap involving their wives at a private hospital in Noida. The life-saving paired-exchange transplant was performed at Fortis Hospital, after doctors found the patients’ own spouses were not compatible donors but matched each other’s husbands.
Both patients – Hanspal Sirohi (52), a farmer from Hapur and Sanjeev Kumar (42), a clerk also from Hapur – had been on dialysis for several months. While Hanspal had been undergoing dialysis for eight months, Sanjeev had been on it for five months. Their health was worsening quickly, pushing doctors to look for urgent alternatives, Times of India reported.
