VfB Stuttgart beat Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 to win 4th DFB-Pokal title, end 18-year-long trophy drought

New Delhi: VfB Stuttgart steamrolled Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in the final to claim the DFB-Pokal title, ending the club’s 18-year-long trophy drought. Arminia Bielefeld, the third-tier fairytale side, were no match for Stuttgart in the high-octane final at a packed Olympiastadion in Berlin as they ran riot with three goals in the first half before scoring another in the second half to wrap up a thumping 4-2 victory.

The atmosphere was electric at the Olympiastadion as thousands of Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld fans thronged the stadium to watch the blockbuster final, with some of the greats of German football also in attendance. Enzo Millot bagged a brace, with a goal apiece in either halves, while Nick Woltermade and Deniz Undav got themselves on the scoresheet in the first half to help Stuttgart complete a 4-2 thrashing of Arminia Bielefeld in the final.

Stuttgart produced a clinical performance in the final to claim their fourth DFB-Pokal crown and the first since the 1996-97 season. The title also marks Stuttgart’s first major trophy since they won the Bundesliga title in the 2006-07........
