Straight Talk | Trump’s Vision For Gaza Is A Death Blow To The Two-State Solution
So, what is the 47th American President’s solution to the decades-long conflict raging in West Asia? To turn the Gaza Strip into the “Riviera of the Middle East."
To do so, Trump says the US will take ownership of the narrow strip of land and develop it through and through. Trump has floated the idea— several times now—of initiating economic development in Gaza to supply unlimited jobs and housing for the people. However, here’s the kicker: the unlimited jobs and housing will not be for ‘Palestinian’ people.
Instead, Trump appears to be interested in turning the Gaza Strip into West Asia’s next UAE, where all sorts of people will settle and flourish – from all around the world. So, what will become of the Palestinian people? Where will they go?
Donald Trump does not seem to care much, as long as they get out of Gaza. That is what has outraged the global community—the perceived heartlessness of Trump’s plan.
When he first spoke of his “Riviera" plan alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, many took it as him engaging in his usual hyperbole. However, Trump has reiterated his commitment to the plan several times since. This, despite his own staffers and White House spokespersons claiming that Palestinians will only temporarily be relocated, with them having the right to return to Gaza once the development is completed.
The global community is in shock. For many, every part of Donald Trump’s Gaza plan is just too hard to digest. Whether it be the thought of the US owning Gaza, or the fact that over two million Palestinians may be forced to leave a land they claim ownership........
