The representative suggested that Iran-backed Iraqi militias would carry out “advanced and modern strikes” against U.S. forces if they do not leave Iraq by the end of 2025. As is known, in September 2024, the United States and Iraq agreed that hundreds of U.S.-led international coalition troops would leave Iraq by September 2025, with the remaining forces departing by the end of that year. However, it has been reported that in recent months, the Iraqi federal government has considered delaying the withdrawal of U.S. troops due to security threats posed by the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and the resulting political instability.
