We tried the Tesco range soaring in sales and found a new £2 treat
With the cost of living crisis impacting shoppers, it may seem odd that sales of a premium brand are increasing.
But that's precisely what's happening at Tesco, where sales of its high-end Finest range are up 18% in the first quarter of this year - and showing no sign of slowing down.
The boost is, in part, being put down to a home-dining boom, with shoppers ditching restaurants but splashing out a bit more on their meals for home.
Experts have recently referred to the posher own-brand range as 'something of a secret weapon' to entice cash-strapped shoppers to spend on more premium items.
First launched in 1998, as the UK's first supermarket premium own brand, it underwent a major relaunch in 2013, when the company claimed all the new products were 'as good, if not better' than leading brands.
It now boasts more than 1,000 products, with recent additions including a new Finest Regional Italian range, a Finest BBQ range, chilled and frozen desserts, and a Finest Greek range.
