Art of the Deal? Spirit Airlines Eyes $500 Million Government Backstop—With Conditions

President Trump’s dealmaking bonanza has set its sights on Spirit.

The government is reportedly close to inking a deal that would throw Spirit Airlines up to a lifeline of up to $500 million.

The tentative agreement, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, would allow the government to take “a potential significant stake” in the struggling carrier in return for the capital.
