As AI threatens to replace workers, executives need to remember the needs of their flesh-and-blood staff for long term success.

You might imagine that the role of chief information officer or chief technology officer involves a lot of fiddling around with computers and data, especially now AI is arriving at breakneck speed. This is arguably true. But really, like most C-suite execs, CIOs and CTOs spend much of their time in interminable meetings, reacting to financial presentations and, aided by coffee, making decisions after long, detailed and sometimes stultifying discussions.
Now an interesting change may be taking place, a new report says: CIOs are realizing that revolutionary AI means their tech-linked role is shifting, and they need to be people leaders too.
