WWDC 2026 was supposed to be the keynote where Apple answered the AI question. Cook’s last Worldwide Developers Conference as chief executive took place after two years of delayed Siri features and a steady run of stories about Cupertino falling behind OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and the rest.
