The No. 1 Reason People Actually Love Their New Jobs (Hint: It’s Not the Paycheck)

A new BLS study reveals that while salary matters, this single, overlooked factor is the ultimate predictor of long-term job satisfaction.

One of the big recruitment challenges for employers is determining which aspects of a position on offer will attract desired candidates most, then enhance those to fuel applications. A recent study by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) may help with that—to a point. Its findings show that while salary level, benefits, and work-life balance are all important in shaping people’s appreciation of job, their interest in the work is the determining factor in how much they value it.
