Fake Meat Is Out. Old-School Veggie Burgers Pushed Actual Veggies Past $20M

The company has moved into the shelf space vacated by Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods.

Actual Veggies has been taking over the freezer aisle. Last year, the six-year-old veggie burger brand, co-founded by Hailey Swartz and Jason Rosenbaum, was stocked in about 9,000 retail stores nationwide. Today, boxes of its black bean and mushroom quinoa burgers are available in more than 15,000, including Kroger, Whole Foods, Albertsons, Sprouts, and Costco, where the company exclusively launched its first organic veggie burger earlier this month.
