Between Sinners, 28 Years Later and Bring Her Back, 2025 is shaping up to be another frightfully good year for horror.

However, it’s Weapons, the new movie from Barbarian director Zach Cregger, that looks like it’s shaping up to be the most out-there thriller of the year.

The premise of the film sounds like a relatively simple one, with the story picking up after all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously got out of bed and vanished into the darkness on the same night, at the exact same time, with no leads as to where they’ve gone or why.

Julia Garner is best known for playing Ruth Langmore in the Netflix crime drama series Ozark, for which she has won three Emmys.

Her other biggest TV roles include Netflix’s Inventing Anna, The Americans and Waco. She’s also delivered some of her most hard-hitting movie performances collaborating with indie director Kitty Green on The Assistant and The Royal Hotel.
