Sydney Sweeney was not exactly up for discussing her American Eagle ad that sparked controversy over the summer while promoting her latest film.

The Euphoria star faced a huge amount of backlash when she unveiled a new campaign with the American clothing brand back in July.

As part of their autumn 2025 campaign, American Eagle introduced the slogan “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans”, which was intended as a pun on the term “great genes”.

The tagline was quickly criticised by many for its similarities with the language used by white supremacists and eugenicists.
