President Donald Trump on Sunday bragged that his golden remake of the Oval Office and other parts of the White House is causing visitors, including world leaders, to “freak out” when they gaze upon it.

Since returning to office in January, Trump has been putting his personal stamp on the White House, including stepping up the use of gold decorations.

“Some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, ‘freak out’ when they see the quality and beauty. Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!! President DJT”

He also posted a video showing gold decor destined for the White House walls.

While the White House has said Trump paid for the makeover himself, the boast comes as food prices rise at their fastest monthly rate in nearly three years, according to USA Today, with beef and coffee hitting record highs despite Trump’s promise to cut grocery prices on “day one.”

It comes amid a push for austerity that has led to massive cuts in federal programmes for medical research, education, food, clean energy, and healthcare, as well as cuts in the federal workforce.
