President Donald Trump’s latest obsession seems to be changing the name of Washington’s NFL team back to the racist one.

Trump announced on Sunday that “the Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team” and claimed that “there is a big clamoring for this.”

A short time later, he threatened to prevent the team from building a new stadium in D.C. if the name wasn’t changed back to the offensive one.

“I may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original ‘Washington Redskins,’ and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, ‘Washington Commanders,’ I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington,” he said on his TruthSocial platform.

Although the team dropped its racist team name in 2020 after years of criticism and chose to call itself the Commanders before the 2022 season, Trump said earlier this month that the new name “doesn’t have the same ring.”

But many people on social media were skeptical about Trump’s sudden obsession with seemingly old news.
