Overextended on credit card debt? Risks when minimum payment are unmet

If you stop making minimum payments, the credit card companies will likely attempt to collect from you either by using bill-collection firms or by suing you, or both.

Q: I have a lot of credit card debt, way too much to ever pay back. I used my credit cards to live on for several years during COVID. What would the credit card companies do to me if I stop making the minimum payments? And what would the credit card companies do after my death? Should I file for bankruptcy to eliminate the debt?

A: If you stop making the minimum payments, the credit card companies will likely attempt to collect from you either by using bill-collection firms or by suing you, or both.
