Going to prison does not automatically put child support payments on hold, but the terms can be adjusted by a court.

Q: I'm told that I can purchase a house outright, put it in a relative's name, and live there while retaining full control of the use of the house by way of a "life estate." Could you explain how that works, the process involved in setting it up, and who would do this for me in Indiana (where I will be buying the house)? Also, can the process be completed shortly after I move into the fully paid-off house, or does it have to be done at the exact time of purchase?
