Getting rid of no-fault divorce in Texas won't save marriage

Nothing says "American" like staying in an abusive, unhappy, neglectful, loveless or unfaithful marriage for the sanctity of the family, right?

It's a preposterous idea that seems to be playing out in real-time. Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance and other conservatives are pushing to end no-fault divorce, which allows couples in all states to split legally and amicably with neither alleging blame.

No-fault divorce, like women's reproductive rights, is on the roll-back list, but couched in faith and American values.

Proponents of this effort claim that no-fault divorces have eroded family values by making it easy and quick to leave when things get tough. They say it gives women, in particular, an easy out and that men have been disproportionately harmed by it financially and emotionally. They also say this will help keep families together.

Vance has called people who divorce, including those who did so to leave abusive marriages,........
