There's a concept called the illusion of truth. It's the notion that if you repeat a lie long enough, people start to believe it.

Those who buy into the illusion might think DEI, or diversity, equity and inclusion, is the root of many problems and that it allows for mediocrity and creates divisiveness.

It's why Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, in a recent letter signed by 18 other Republican attorneys general, called on Costco to end its DEI policies. Just this month, Costco shareholders overwhelmingly voted down a proposal that would have examined the impact of DEI on company operations. Companies, such as Target, Walmart and others, have pledged to end or roll back their DEI efforts.
