Politicians are known for making statements without ever uttering a word. Those attending President Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday were no exception.

So it begs the question: Why did Elon Musk make a gesture that looks like the "Facist salute" at the event, a celebration of Trump's second term?

The billionaire thanked Trump and then placed his hand to his heart before extending his arm above his head with his palm facing down. He turned around and repeated the gesture. Network journalists pointed out Musk's salute in real time, and many on social media were outraged by its resemblance to the salute popularized by Adolf Hitler.........
