Eclectic influences inspire Rosemeyer Bar-B-Q’s evolving menu

One of the most important jobs when hunting white-tailed deer in South Texas is the camp cook.

After a long day of hunting in the cold, windy and sometimes icy brush country, there’s nothing better than arriving at camp with a hot meal ready to be served.

In college, Ben Maxwell and Jordan Rosemeyer frequented a deer camp in Freer where the cook made fideo can carne, a Mexican meat-and-pasta dish. Fideo, which translates to “noodle” in Spanish, is most often associated with sopa de fideo, a traditional Mexican soup of thin, short noodles in a tomatoey broth.
