Trump’s layoffs, taxes and suppression triggering Texas opposition

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Houston City Hall on Saturday in another demonstration of Trump Administration policies.

Republicans don’t typically impose layoffs, raise taxes or slow economic growth on purpose, but then again, President Donald Trump is anything but typical.

The breadth and speed of Trump’s reassertion of the imperial presidency are breathtaking, but opposition is rising as the consequences set in. Texans should prepare for an extraordinary period of economic, political and social instability as policies continually shift.

Consider Trump’s tariffs, which continue to wreak havoc on business plans and financial markets. Or his cuts to the Social Security Administration, which have left seniors waiting hours and sometimes days to access their money.
