As Scottish Labour wrap up its conference, the stakes have never been higher.

Working people across Scotland are crying out for change - real, transformative change that lifts communities, rebuilds public services and tackles inequality head-on.

It's the change we were promised in the General Election. Has it been delivered yet? No. It was always going to take some time after a decade of Tory Government but, naturally, we’re impatient.

Why? Because as welcome as a change of UK Government is, we’re still searching for an overarching vision of hope and transformative change from our political leaders. Retreating into cautious, managerial politics that leaves the status quo intact and gravitates to the centre ground cannot be countenanced.

That’s why we welcome Labour’s proposals on abolishing peak fares on public transport, maintaining free bus passes and safeguarding free university tuition. It’s also welcome to see Scottish Labour targeting the likes of Amazon through new taxation to support local high streets.
