Kevin McKenna: Fake liberals wage war on Scotland's poorest and most vulnerable folk

The shallowness of Scotland’s counterfeit liberals is never more evident than in their loathing of working class people. They are a gaseous and shape-shifting class of grifters who have insinuated themselves into politics, the media and our public boards. They sub-divide themselves into political parties – the SNP, Labour, the Greens, the Lib-Dems – but these labels only exist to convey the lie that they have distinct values underpinned by personal conviction.

Last week, John Swinney branded the Conservatives “a disgusting organisation” while chastising others for using incautious terminology. If you’re looking for an example of ‘disgusting’ in Scottish politics you need look no further than the SNP and its allies in Holyrood’s liberal confederation of frauds.

Indeed, in three pieces of legislation currently moving glacially through Holyrood’s systems of scrutiny it’s mainly the Scottish Tories who seem alive to their potentially bad outcomes for vulnerable and marginalised people.

Last month, I attended a talk in Glasgow given by Alba MSP, Ash Regan who was seeking to raise awareness of her campaign to criminalise prostitution in Scotland through her proposed Prostitution (offences and Support) Bill.

I’ve always had a rather simple verdict on prostitution: that any bloke who pays for sex is effectively committing statutory rape. The men who go to these women are using their economic power to take possession of them in transactions that many of them believe also........
