New Scotland flights boost for airport as airline flies high
The airline has delivered a major boost for the Scottish airport, basing a seventh aircraft there and launching four new routes, writes Business Editor Ian McConnell.
Hopefully, there will be more good news on flights across Scotland’s airports as the airline continues its expansion.
The UK country manager of easyJet was upbeat about the prospects for further expansion of flights in Scotland when I interviewed him earlier this month.
And it did not take long for the details of what is a major boost to Glasgow Airport from easyJet to emerge.
The news came in two stages.
Last week, easyJet announced four new routes from Glasgow for summer 2026, “to popular beach and city-break destinations”: Pisa in Italy, Lisbon in Portugal, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, and Malta. It declared then that seats on these flights were “now on sale”.
Flights from Glasgow to Lisbon will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from March 29, 2026, easyJet announced. Services to Pisa and Sharm El Sheikh will begin on August 1, 2026, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Wednesdays and Saturdays respectively.
And the airline said its new Mediterranean route to Malta will take off from August 4, 2026, operating on Tuesdays and Fridays.
