IN AMERICA: Dishes I have known

Anne has just handed me a little white bowl she tried to wash and noticed what was a tiny crack a while ago now has become somewhat of a problem. She was a bit sad when I placed it in the trash because, well, it was one of her favorites.
Me? I have no problem tossing well-used items away because, after all, they were well used. Which means they weren’t just something that sat around with no purpose other than to collect dust. They were something we enjoyed.
And, may I add, almost daily.
The bowl wasn’t anything special by any means. It was just this small white thing, maybe four inches across, and not exactly fine china either. More like high-end TJMaxx.
But still, everyday when Anne and I would sit before dinner and chat about our day, that bowl would come out of the cupboard and get filled with some form of........
