DENIM SPIRIT: Ah, my Brother
Back in the last century, when personal computing was young (and so was I), I had a word processor. Remember those? The brand I had was Brother, and I thought it was so cool. It was a boxy unit with a keyboard that folded down, integrated printer, and a dark screen with amber digital lettering.
In the last semester of seminary came a week of the dreaded General Ordination Exams. It had two components: several in-class test sessions, and take-home essay questions handed out at the end of each test session. Essays were to be returned in 24 hours. For those sections, seniors hired younger students to type their hand-written answers so they didn’t have to waste time typing. My Brother, and being a fast typist, earned good money from senior misery.
