William Watson: We need a Minor Projects Office. And skip the office

Some of the dreamed-of major projects will account for a per cent or two of GDP while they’re being built

As we near the one-year mark (March 14) on Mark Carney’s becoming prime minister, Ottawa’s new Major Projects Office is now nicely set up with its own web page. In its top right corner is a schematic doodle-gram in tasteful shades of black and lime green showing how stylized projects (in green) are linked up with stylized Rockies at one corner of the square and a stylized ocean lighthouse at the other. The lighthouse beacon is green, indicating, I guess, that there could be investments in lighthouses or similar maritime-intelligence technology.
