Pakistan: Swift Justice In Bara Against Militants – OpEd

The Khyber District security operation in Bara proved that militants continue to fight against the government which strives to maintain peace and safeguard its citizens. The militants known as khawarij made their first move when they tried to take control of Khawaja Mir School by seizing it. The terrorists executed their plan through two different methods: they first used their violent activities to build fear among locals and they then used social media to create an image of their fake power.

Educational institutions serve as symbols of stability and progress which provide hope to communities that have experienced years of warfare. The militants used the school building to create chaos in society because they wanted to demonstrate their ability to conquer all spaces including educational facilities which exist for children. The group used flag raising and online video distribution to demonstrate their dependence on psychological combat methods. The group actions served to display power while dismissing territorial claims.
