From June 9 to June 12, surface dressing works are expected to take place along Eye Road, Langton Green and Victoria Hill in Eye.

The works will also see weight restrictions suspended along Broad Street and Magdalen Street.

However, Gary Rowland, joint leader of Trucks Out of Our Town, says the two roads are at a "pinch point" and the change puts the "public in danger".

He said: "It will cause absolute chaos, as the lorries will plough straight through Eye.

"The pinch point here is by the Bank and this is where the kids walk to........
