The Diocese of East Anglia has announced that St Benet's Minster Church in Beccles has been added to Historic England's heritage at risk register.

The decision was made after extensive investigations uncovered long-term leaks and hidden damage to the stonework and historic timbers.

The church was said to have significant issues with its roof and rainwater guttering and pipes which has resulted in "decades of deterioration to its historic fabric".

St Benet’s, which became grade-II listed in 2023, remains the third largest Catholic place of worship in East Anglia.
