Maternity pay row breaks out as council is criticised for 'financial failings'
Cash-strapped North Norfolk District Council is facing a range of issues that are putting pressure on its budget.
It led to Tom Fitzpatrick, Conservative councillor for Walsingham, attacking the Liberal-Democrat-controlled authority's handling of the situation at a full council meeting this week.

He questioned why NNDC is spending nearly £200,000 on agency staff to fill empty vacancies and highlighted costs of £42,000 on maternity leave.
Other issues are the loss of rent from the RNLI museum at the Rocket House in Cromer, due to it being shut for a revamp, as well as a failed bid to expand the Meadow Car Park in Cromer to raise an additional £79,000.
