Former hotel on Norfolk coast set to gain more rooms after plans approved
Planners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) have approved plans to turn the current 15-bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) at 82-84 Walpole Road in Great Yarmouth, into an 18-bedroom HMO.
The plans, submitted by Barrett Properties, will also see one room occupied as a manager's room.

Known as the Driftwood Hotel, the three-storey terraced building will see a net increase of two HMO letting rooms.
Each floor of the building will have kitchen facilities with shower facilities located on the ground floor and first floor.
The proposal had received an objection from a nearby resident who raised concerns about the proposed development's potential effect on noise, parking and anti-social behaviour.

Planners at GYBC said the proposal is "considered an improvement over the lawful existing use" and that the addition of two bedrooms is "considered acceptable".
They also said that changes to the layout in the property would enable residents to have "suitable access to communal spaces within the HMO".
