The facility was previously used as the sports pavilion for Watts Naval School on land near Bintree.

The school accommodated and trained up to 300 boys for careers in the Royal and Merchant Navy, but closed in 1953.

An application to determine whether 'prior approval' was needed for the development near Fakenham has since been put forward by Mr and Mrs Pettet-Ellis.
