Retired intellectual's body lay undiscovered for weeks until neighbours raised alarm
Norfolk Coroner’s Court was told Christopher Purvis, 84, was found dead at Goosander Close in Snettisham, near King’s Lynn, after police forced entry following concerns for his welfare.
Assistant coroner Robin Weyell heard the retired academic and published author had become increasingly housebound towards the end of his life and was known for being deeply private and reserved.
His brother, Richard Purvis, described him as a highly educated man who had spent around a decade at university where he achieved several degrees.
