Tom Youngs, who grew up near Mildenhall, passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

After making more than 150 appearances for Cambridge United between 1997 and 2003 Youngs played for Norwich United in 2009.

He was born in Bury St Edmunds in 1979, Youngs grew up in Barton Mills and first took part in playground football at Great Heath Primary School in nearby Mildenhall on the Norfolk and Suffolk border.

During a short spell in Mildenhall Town’s junior sides, he was spotted by a Cambridge United scout and joined the club at the age of 10.........
