Stephen Fraser has stepped down as a councillor and caretaker at Attleborough Town Council with immediate effect.

Mr Fraser had served as a member of the authority while his cleaning company, SF Services, had been contracted to carry out maintenance work at the town hall.

However payments being made to his firm were questioned at a council meeting last week.

Daniel Burcham, a vocal opponent of Mr Fraser and his allies on the council, raised concerns over invoices that had been submitted for approval despite timesheets for the final two weeks of April not having been received.

He asked the clerk how members could "reassure" the public "that payments aren't going to be made that don't have valid timesheets".

The council then voted to refuse to authorise the payments.

Mr Fraser was not present at the meeting.
