Councillor untroubled by town's recent violent crime spree insists security is 'fine'

Samantha Taylor, chairwoman of Breckland Council and a prominent figure on Attleborough Town Council, has brushed off the unease in the town.

Her comments come amid a rampage of crime within the area in a short amount of time.

A vape shop has been attacked three times in a week, including twice in one day when a nearby barber shop was also smashed in with baseball bats.

Then, on Tuesday night (November 25), four men tried to force their way into a farmhouse on the outskirts of town - and three of the assailants remain on the run.

The spate of attacks followed a town council meeting on Monday, November 17 when the introduction of street wardens and cameras were dismissed on cost grounds.

The decision to turn down additional security measures prior to the string of break-ins has prompted criticism from shop owners and councillors who say further protections are needed.
