Luxury interior design with a difference that's 'quiet' and sustainable

The founder of Cosu Studio is talking about where her love of interior design came from.

Her career has taken her to Qatar - where the project was to design a palace - and Dubai. But a year ago she relocated back home to Norfolk, and set up her own business, where her focus is on combining style with sustainability.

'I started off in textile design and studied it at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design,' she says. 'When I finished the course, I felt that I loved the design aspect, but I didn't want to be making all the time. And I think that's what led me to interior design because it's a lovely balance of designing, project management, procurement and I'm constantly learning because you have to be a generalist in so many different areas - you need to know a bit about construction and plumbing, as well as design.'

Danielle Taylor of Cosu Studio. Photo: Cosu Studio 'I moved around quite a lot in London - interior designers tend to do that because it's how you get a feel for different styles and ways of working,' she says.

'The biggest project I worked on was a 35,000 square foot palace in Qatar, which was an amazing learning experience. I got to really exercise my creativity and come up with lots of ideas. Because it was a palace, every space had to be very different. Each week we'd design a different space, so it was very fast paced.

'I've worked on a few large projects like that around the world and then apartments in London, so a real range.
