Parents plead for council to change £8m park revamp plans

Parents living near Sloughbottom Park in NR3 want plans changed to provide more accessible facilities, including play equipment and toilets, which they say the site is currently lacking.

Angry locals have also highlighted that the park has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour and some fear the upgraded furniture will quickly become vandalised.

Laura Pedley, who lives in NR3, said: “My three-year-old daughter Freida, has a genetic condition; she is non-mobile and non-verbal.

“The plans look good.

“But there needs to be more accessible equipment to include every child.

“Not only this, but the council need to create accessible toilet facilities at this park.
