The missing MP... Locals criticise representative for his silence over asylum saga

Adrian Ramsay, Green MP for Waveney Valley, previously criticised 'out-of-towners' for creating "fear and division" during a demonstration outside the Park Hotel in Diss last month.

However, he has refused to speak publicly about major developments in the saga, with South Norfolk Council wielding its planning enforcement powers in an effort to stop any changes at the hotel, which is currently home to asylum-seeking families.

People living near the Park Hotel say they have not heard from their MP in recent weeks despite tensions rising in the area.

Protests in Diss (Image: Newsquest) The Park Hotel, in Denmark Street, which is close to the Mere and the town centre, has been used for asylum-seeking families, including women and children, since 2023.

The Home Office informed South Norfolk Council that it would be removing them and replacing them with men from July.

But the hotel said it wanted to remain as a home for migrant families and if not able to do so would close its doors.
