Councillor barred from offices says he was 'silenced' after ridiculing duck statue

Graham Edwards, who has sat on Swaffham Town Council for more than five years, was hit with tough sanctions and an investigation was launched into his conduct following complaints from council staff members.

The allegations against the councillor include claims that he "pressurised" staff to work on a bank holiday weekend, "undermined the integrity" of the clerk through posts on social media and sent an "openly critical email" about the council.

But Mr Edwards says he has been wrongly punished for raising legitimate concerns about the financial management of the authority.

He believes the action taken against him is "unauthorised" and has continued to demand answers, despite the council threatening legal action if he refuses to comply with the restrictions it has imposed.
