Robert Nunn, of Dereham Road, Mattishall, near Dereham, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital (N&N) on March 22 last year, two days after surgery.

The inquest into his death at Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard detailed medical and family evidence, including from his wife Karen, about his deteriorating health.

Area coroner Johanna Thompson also reviewed evidence about the care he received in the months leading up to his death.

The inquest heard that Mr Nunn was first admitted to the N&N in March 2023 with symptoms of a narrowed intestine.

Doctors successfully treated him and he was discharged two days later with a plan for outpatient follow-up.
